Sakawa boy ordered by a court to sweep church for 6 months as part of his punishment

As part of his punishment for engaging in internet scamming (yahoo, sakawa), a Nigerian man identified as Chibuike Omemgboji aka Surajo Ascencio has been asked to sweep a church as part of his community service for 6 months.

The sentence was passed by Justice K.N. Ogbonnaya at the Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Kubwa, Abuja.

Reports from multiple Nigerian portals stated that Chibuike was convicted on Wednesday, June 15, having pleaded guilty to one count of charge of fraudulent impersonation.

The accused was said to have created different social media accounts on Facebook, and Instagram using a fake identity to defraud another person for the sum of $4,328.

His charge as read in court goes;

“That you, Chibuike Marshal Omemgboji (alias Surajo Ascencio) sometime in 2022 within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court fraudulently cheat when you created social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram, misrepresenting yourself to be Surajo Ascencio upon which one Sarah Vakunta (aka Danne Gibbs) delivered the sum of $4,328 under the pretense that you are in love with her.

Thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 320(a) of the Penal Code Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (Abuja) 1990 and punishable under Section 322 of the same Law.”
