Wollacott picks an injury during training ahead of Angola clash

Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott sustained an injury during a training session with the Black Stars on Tuesday evening in preparation for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Angola on Thursday.

During a training session with the Black Stars on Tuesday evening, Wollacott had to exit early after a goalpost fell on him. The severity of his injury is presently uncertain, and it is unclear if it will affect his participation in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper, born in Bristol, missed the World Cup due to a finger injury but is expected to start against Angola if declared fit, as he is the first-choice goalkeeper.

Lawrence Ati-Zigi, who played in Qatar and gave a positive account of himself, remain the team’s second-choice goalkeeper.

The Black Stars aim to secure a victory on Thursday, maintaining their lead in the qualifying group before travelling to Luanda for a rematch against Angola on Monday.
