A Mother In Kennedy Agyapong's Constituency Is Asking For Help Of GH¢ 3000 To Conduct Surgery For Critically ill Baby

The critically ill infant of a constituent of Kennedy Agyapong needs GH3,000 for surgery.
Deborah Appiah a.k.a. Yaa Duah, a 22-year-old mother from Assin Dompim, was compelled to abandon her one-day-old daughter at the St. Francis Hospital in the Assin Fosu Municipality of the Central Region due to a lack of GH3,000.00.

The mother of four and a resident of the Assin North Constituency in the Central Region, where the New Patriotic Party (NPP) strongman, financier, and flagbearer candidate, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong .

Many have benefited from Mr. Agyapong's assistance, and it is believed that he will assist the young mother and her dying child if he learns about this situation. The doctors disclose that the infant's condition is critical.

Deborah was reported to have given birth at the Assin Fosu Polyclinic, but the nurses observed that the newborn infant had an umbilical mass that was covered by a peritoneal sac. As a result, she was referred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St. Francis Hospital due to Omphalocele.

The mother, upon discovering the infant's condition, abandoned the infant, scaled the hospital's wall, and fled.

According to the facility's physician, Agbematu Emmanuel, in order for the infant to survive, surgical intervention will be required because the baby's peritoneum is infected and exuding noxious fluids.

In addition, St. Francis Hospital administration has arranged for the baby's transfer to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for the surgery, as the infant's condition is deteriorating.

The surgery will cost approximately GH3,000, but the infant remains in the family's custody due to financial constraints.

Also, the head of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Ms. Vivian Kodia, stated that the police were notified, and a report led to the arrest of the mother four days later in Kennedy Agyapong's hometown of Assin Dompim.

In light of the newborn's condition and Yaa Dua's financial situation, the police granted her bail on the doctor's advice, but she was charged with abandoning the infant and exposing her to injury.

In an interview, the 22-year-old unemployed single mother of four explained that she never intended to disappear and abandon her infant, but rather was seeking money for her child's surgery prior to her arrest by police.

To save the baby's life, she therefore appealed to the general public for assistance in raising the necessary funds for the surgery.
