A/R : 8 -Year Old boy Dies After Drinking Poisoned Palm Wine

Untimely death has befallen an eight-year-old child who drank poisoned palm wine in Bantama, Awutu Senya West District, Central Region.

According to eyewitnesses who spoke with Chris News, the palm wine may have been tainted with poison by the tapper who complained that his wine was being stolen.

Auntie of the deceased, Mercy Acquah, stated in an interview with Chris News that she saw the boy screaming for assistance and rushed him to Awutu Bontrase Health Center.

She reported that they were informed of the poisoning suspicion and referred to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for advanced care.

However, the youngster succumbed to his pain en route to the facility of referral.

Mercy Acquah disclosed that an examiner determined that the palm wine, the last item he consumed while still alive, contained toxins.

The Awutu Bereku police command visited the scene after being promptly notified of the development.

The remaining palm wine was sent to the hospital as evidence, and testing indicate that every wine on the farm was laced with poison.

In the meantime, the tapper has been apprehended and is assisting investigators.
