Asantehene Accepts To Help In Bawku Conflict Resolution

Otumfuo Osei Tutu, the Asantehene, has accepted an invitation to mediate the protracted conflict between the Mamprusi and Kuaasi in the Bawku region.

According to Upper East Regional Minister Stephen Yakubu, this is the case. During an interview with Mark Smith on the Day Break Upper East Show, he stated this.

"The administration is actively addressing the Bawku issue. "The Asantehene has arrived and is examining how we can resolve this issue amicably," he stated.

In addition, security has been increased in the Bawku region to manage the escalating tensions. Mr. Yakubu explained that the government is determined to restore the Bawku community to its former economic prominence.

"There are special personnel in Bawku. If I say forces, I am referring to both the military and the police. We want to restore Bawku to its former state," he said.

The Upper East Regional Minister urged all parties to perform their respective roles in resolving the conflict as quickly as possible.

"The issue affects us all. Can we extend each other pardon? Can we lay down our weapons and sit down to talk? These have always been the problems. Everyone appears to be exhausted by Bawku, but the government is not. I am not weary. We are attempting to resolve the issue," he continued.
