Some citizens who have applied for passports are enraged because passport offices across the nation are unable to give their passports despite the passing of their collection dates.
Starr News sources claim that the passport office is currently only handling priority cases since the supplier of the passport booklet has refused to provide it due to unpaid debts.
“The company that supplies the booklet is a Chinese company and because we owe them they haven’t supplied us for some time now. So we have not been able to print new passports for the past three weeks. We are hoping to resolve the impasse soon,” a staff at the passport office told Starr News.
Mavis Adjei, a dissatisfied passport applicant, told Starr News, "I need to fly next week and I was supposed to receive my booklet last week, but they keep tossing me."
James Quaye, a different applicant, claimed that he filed for a passport in Koforidua with the intention of getting it in time for a visa appointment, but that he is now stuck in the visa queue.
