The Supreme Court determined that it was unconstitutional for President Akufo-Addo to require former Auditor General Daniel Domelovo to take a leave of absence.
The presidency required Domelovo to accumulate 169 days of absence in 2020.
The Centre for Democratic Development and eight other Civil Society Organizations petitioned the Supreme Court to declare the President's action unconstitutional and null and void because it violated the independence of the office.
The lawsuit will be filed in October 2020 due to the president's refusal to rescind the directive despite multiple appeals.
The supreme court issued a ruling sustaining the petitioners' appeal after a two-year trial.
