Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has Showed Statesmanship By Withdrawing Lawsuit - Asiedu Nketia

Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), praised Dr. Kwabena Duffour for withdrawing the injunction petition he had filed against the upcoming presidential and parliamentary primaries of the party.

According to Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the candidate's decision demonstrates his dedication to the advancement of the party.

"I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate Dr. Duffour for demonstrating good statesmanship and love for the party by withdrawing this case and turning to the party's internal processes to seek resolutions to issues that have arisen from this process," he said.

At a press conference held in advance of Saturday's elections, he urged all party members to follow Dr. Duffour's example by turning to internal party structures if they had any concerns.

"I would like to suggest to all party members who may feel aggrieved by something in the party that the best course of action is to utilize internal party mechanisms to find a resolution.

When this solution cannot be discovered, you may seek alternatives outside of the party structures.

Therefore, we applaud the Duffour team for utilizing internal party processes to discover solutions," he said on Friday.

The NDC primaries will proceed as Duffuor withdraws his lawsuit against the party.
After his attorneys withdrew the case, an Accra High Court dismissed Dr. Duffour's injunction application against the NDC presidential and parliamentary primaries earlier today.

Dr. Kwabena Duffour filed a lawsuit against the party on May 9, alleging that his team discovered inconsistencies in the party's voter registration list to be used for the election.

Kwabena Duffour attempts to halt NDC primary elections
In a petition lodged at a High Court in Accra, Dr. Duffour alleged that the party did not provide the required photo album register five weeks prior to the elections, as required by the party's rules.

He stated that his team received a partial photo album register on May 4, a few days before the election, rather than in March, when they had requested one.

Another NDC member who sought a High Court injunction to prohibit the party from proceeding with its primaries has also withdrawn the case.

Edgar Asamoah Boateng has requested the suspension of the presidential and parliamentary primaries scheduled for May 13 due to comparable concerns with the voter registration list.

In his statement of claim, the plaintiff asserted that the absence of a sufficient photo album of qualified electors has caused considerable animosity and hostility within the party.

Meanwhile, Fifi Kwetey, the general secretary of the NDC, asserts that everything is in place for the conduct of the elections.
