ECG Arrests Two Chinese Nationals For illegal Connection

Two Chinese nationals incarcerated for electricity theft
On Thursday, April 27, the Revenue Protection Taskforce of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) discovered an illicit underground connection at Fenice Metal Technology in the Tema region, and two Chinese managers were detained.

After Samuel Dubik Mahama, the managing director of ECG, received a report from an informant revealing the anomalies, the taskforce entered the company with National Security personnel.

Ismael Oku, manager of Revenue Protection and Technical investigations, revealed this information exclusively.

According to sources consulted by our team the company manufactures electrical cables.

On April 20, 2023, the ECG took a pause from its national revenue mobilization exercise to review its operations and revenue goals.

However, the revenue protection taskforce is still on the ground, investigating illegalities that contribute to the company's system losses.

"The company has been disconnected from the national grid and served with an illegal connection notice to report to the ECG office," Ishmael reported.
