ECG Has Invested Over GH¢6 Million In Vegetative Activities In Western Region

Emmanuel Ofori, General Manger
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has invested a staggering GH6,239,969.00 in its Western Region vegetation management activities for 2023.

The investment is intended to reduce vegetation-related harm to the company's network and subsequent power outages, which typically occur during the rainy season.

The Regional General Manager of ECG, Ing. Emmanuel Ofori, told the press that this was part of the company's efforts to ensure the reliability of power supply to its customers, particularly in the forest areas when strong winds and heavy rainfall arrive.

"Ensuring that trees that interfere with our lines are regularly pruned is part of a larger strategy to maintain a reliable and stable power distribution throughout the region," he explained.

When we reduce downtime caused by natural occurrences such as vegetation-related interferences, it provides relief to both commercial and residential consumers who depend on electricity for economic growth.

Ing. Ofori urged commercial farm owners in the region to be sympathetic to the plight of communities impacted by power outages caused by commercial trees on their plantations by enabling the ECG to prune potential rogue trees.
