Elections 2024 ; Bawumia Will Defeat John Mahama Easily - Mustapha Hamid

Dr. Mustapha Hamid, chief executive officer (CEO) of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), has argued that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will easily defeat John Mahama in the 2024 presidential election, given their respective credentials and prior policy positions.

Dr. Hamid, while declaring his support for Dr. Bawumia's bid to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP), argued on Metro TV's Good Evening Ghana program last Thursday that Dr. Bawumia is in prime position to defeat John Mahama, the presumed nominee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

"Well, I favor Dr Bawumia. He will win the NPP primary election. There is absolutely no room for debate. Oh sure! It is complete. I am certain that the other [flagbearer hopefuls] are aware.

But since it's a competition, their presence is acceptable...Consequently, he will secure the NPP. When it comes to the national level, the task becomes even simpler. Have you heard John Mahama express any substantive policy positions? I am unaware; I have not heard. He has nothing whatsoever to his name.

I wish to appear very deferential. With all due respect, however, John Mahama is quite hollow. And where we are as a nation, we have no need for such hollowness and shallowness. We require substance. We need deep pondering.

We need someone who is skilled in the art of government to design the types of programs that will transform this nation. Under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and with the support of Dr. Bawumia, the NPP has paved the way for the transformation of this country through the implementation of these programs...We will ensure that by the time of the 2024 elections, Ghanaians will have absolutely no doubt that Bawumia is the best candidate," he elaborated.

Even though Ghana's dominant parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), have not yet chosen their candidates, serious campaigning for the 2024 presidential election has begun.

John Mahama is the unsurprising candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), while the NPP is still up for grabs despite Dr. Bawumia's enormous support from party grassroots and senior officers.
