Enough Is Enough , Call Akuffo-Addo To Order - Mr. Jantuah

Lawyer Kwame Gyantuah, a prominent member of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), has accused President Akufo-Addo of disregarding Ghana's laws and operating the country like a monarchy.

Mr. Gyantuah's assertion follows two unconstitutional Supreme Court rulings against the termination of Daniel Domelevo as Auditor-General by the President and the imposition of COVID-19 Restrictions on Ghanaians.

On the weekly review segment of Morning Starr on Starr FM, Lawyer Gyantuah, Chairman of the Political Affairs of CPP, argued that the President must be impeached as a deterrent for future administrations.

"His [President] COVID law was unconstitutional; if his COVID law was unconstitutional, who contributed to the economic catastrophe, if not he? And then he turns around and blames us, claiming that the country was closed for a period of time. You enacted a statute, didn't you? Who is responsible for the Supreme Court's ruling that the law you proposed was unconstitutional? Not the President, correct? Does he comprehend his position as President? Consequently, it is sometimes challenging to defend him [President].

"Allow me to discuss another; when we discussed it, they said no, we're not doing it, and it's not possible for us to do it. When the IMF document was released, it was proven that they were responsible. They didn't deny that Bank of Ghana lent money to the government, did they? What are you talking about, was that constitutional? The President believes that the nation is his by virtue of his ancestry. Ghana belongs to his family. Based on everything I've described, he feels this way. If he did not feel this way, he would seek advice before taking action. The President often forgets that he is the nation's highest servant and that he is there to serve the people. He is not there to do whatever he pleases, and if the Supreme Court of a country tells a president that he violated the constitution, do you know what that means? Can you envision the Supreme Court of the United States telling the president that he has violated the Constitution? What would be the president's response? Sadly, Ghanaians do not consider such matters seriously...If they wish to impeach, they can do so, but the opposition will not. Now is the time for Ghanaians to rise up and say, "Enough is enough! Call him to order!"
