Fire Destroys Several Shops At Kwame Nkrumah Circle

On May 21, approximately ten stores containing phone accessories worth thousands of cedis were destroyed by fire on Tip-Toe lane in the nation's capital.

A team of Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) fire tenders from the Abelenkpe and Ministries subdivisions extinguished the blaze, which broke out at approximately 2:00 p.m.

No fatalities were reported, and the cause of the fire is still unknown.

Kenser Manford, whose store was completely destroyed by fire, told our news crew that even though the firefighters arrived on time, they were unable to retrieve their belongings.

"We heard that the fire began in the rear, but we have no notion where it started. When we finally came to our senses, everything was gone. Despite the speed of the firefighters, the fire's intensity obliterated everything.

"All we have to brag about are the dead bodies you see on the ground; we took nothing." Regarding determining the origin of the fire, we defer to experts. It began around 10 a.m., and we are the most significant victims. I'm certain it began long before it arrived at our establishment.

ADOII Alex Nartey of the Ghana National Fire Service's (GNFS) Department of Public Relations urged the public not to rush to conclusions when a fire outbreak occurs.

"At this time, the cause of the fire is uncertain, and various individuals have contradictory accounts. We cannot speculate on the origin of the fire until our investigation is complete. Men from Abelenkpe's ministries and fire stations were required to put out the fire.

People do not understand how we function. When they reach and see that we are extinguishing fires elsewhere, they will instruct us as to why we are not also extinguishing the fire on their end. When our firemen arrive at the scene, they will degrade the victims. It is impolite for them to ridicule our efforts; they must stop. He suggested that people should learn how we operate so they can assist us in rescuing those who are confined.
