GOOD NEWS : GFA Meets Ex Footballers To Discuss The Development Of Ghana Football

Tuesday in Accra, Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Professional Football Association of Ghana (PFAG) held a crucial meeting.

It is believed that this was necessitated by remarks made by former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah several weeks ago, in which he criticized the purported marginalization of former players in football administration.

The primary objective was to deliberate and discuss issues crucial to the growth of football in Ghana.

The meeting centered on player welfare, the standard player contract, financing and support for domestic and national football teams, and the role of former players in the development of Ghana football.

Edwin Simeon-Okraku, president of the GFA, implored the PFAG to provide recommendations and proposals regarding the current GFA statutes. The statutes are being evaluated for potential amendments to increase their effectiveness.

During the meeting, the significance of ex-active and active footballers in the football ecosystem, particularly opportunities in coaching and other identified pathways, was emphasized.

"As stakeholders, we have much work to do to propel this industry to greater heights. Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, the president of the GFA, stated, "I am aware of the power and influence that you all wield as individuals and as a group; hence, this meeting."

President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, Vice President Mark Addo, Executive Council Members Dr. Tony Aubynn, Nana Sarfo Oduro, and Samuel Anim Addo, among others, were in attendance at the meeting.

President Samuel Osei Kuffuor lead the PFAG delegation, which also included Vice President Joseph Tetteh Zutah, General Secretary Anthony Baffoe, and Deputy General Secretary Solomon Torson.

Also present were football luminaries Asamoah Gyan, John Mensah, and John Painstil.
