General Secretary Of GFA Clarifies GFA's Position On Felix Afena-Gyan

Prosper Harrison Addo, general secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has clarified the GFA's position on Felix Afena-Gyan.

Addo's remarks cast light on the GFA's perspective on the player's recent decisions and reaffirm their support for his continued participation with the national team.

Afena-Gyan, who currently plays for Italian club Cremonese, made headlines earlier this year when he turned down a call-up to represent the Black Meteors in a crucial two-legged U23 AFCON qualifying match against Algeria.

Speculation circulated that the player's decision stemmed from his alleged dissatisfaction with the GFA's treatment following his exclusion from the World Cup squad.

Addo stated, "The FA as an organization has no problem with Afena-Gyan." Young and in need of personal space, incessant criticism can exacerbate his disappointment, he told Happy FM.

Therefore, we must allow him space to come to terms and a decent place. The GFA has not stated anywhere that the player will not be called up and disavows these rumors.

"However, the FA will allow the coach to determine if he needs Afena-Gyan, after which the FA will do whatever is necessary to acquire the player." He remains a national asset and will be crucial to the team's success," he added.
