Ghana Armed Forces Cautious Media Not To Address Jamaldeen Tonzua As An Ex Captain

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) requests that media outlets and the general refrain from referring to one Jamaldeen Tonzua Seidu as a former or discharged Ghana Armed Forces captain.

According to a statement signed by Naval Captain MA Larbi, Director of Public Relations, posters of Jamaldeen Tonzua Seidu with the title 'Captain Retired' or 'Ex-Captain' promoting his political ambitions have been spotted, as have some radio programs.

Jamaldeen Tonzua Seidu was released from the Service on April 6, 2023, due to a Voluntary Resignation of Commission after serving for five years, ten months, and eighteen days, which is less than the standard number of years he is required to serve as an Officer to be eligible to use his rank in civilian life.

GAF stated that Jamaldeen Tonzua Seidu's actions are in violation of the Armed Forces Regulations and, as a result, warned him to stop using his military rank in his civilian life.

It urges media outlets and the general public to refrain from referring to him by any military rank, as he is ineligible to use his military rank as a civilian and those who do so do so at their own risk.
