Ghana Wig Sellers In Heated Fight With Foreigners Selling Wigs At A Cheaper Rate

On Monday, the Ghana Wig Sellers Association (GWSA) demolished a wig bazaar organized by a Nigerian hair brand selling at a discount.

The Nigerian wig brand decided to organize a hair fair in order to sell their hair product to customers at a lower price than the Ghanaian hair association's fixed price.

The social media snippets depicted placards requesting that the Nigerian brand return to their country.

Some members of the Ghanaian Hair Association invaded the venue of the trade show, disrupting the event and destroying property.

One tessy-abel shared videos and photographs from the scene along with the caption, "How can you sabotage someone's business and investment in this manner out of greed and expect to prosper?"

In the meantime, the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) urged the Committee on Foreign Retail Trade to terminate the stores of undocumented foreign retailers in Ghana.

It is believed that the Nigerian Union of Traders Association in Ghana (NUTAG) was ordered to collect all the business documents of its members, including the tenancy agreements for each shop or kiosk.

This comes amid rumored intentions by NUTAG to reject the special dispensation granted to them by the Ghanaian government, despite diplomatic efforts by both the Ghanaian and Nigerian governments, according to the Ghanaian Times.

The Ghanaian Times issued the following statement: "This inappropriate attitude of Nigerian traders in Ghana is not only an affront, but also a well-orchestrated scheme to frustrate the committee, the state, and the people of Ghana. Therefore, on behalf of the Ghana Union of Traders' Associations, we urge the Committee on Foreign Retail Trade to resume its operations without delay, as the behavior of Nigerian traders has seriously angered Ghanaian traders and reignited unrest in the markets."
