Hajia4Real Faces Over 20 Years Imprisonment If Found Guilty

Federal prosecutors announced on Monday that Ghanaian social media influencer Mona Faiz Montrage, also known as Hajia4Reall, had been extradited from the United Kingdom to the United States for allegedly defrauding older, single American men and women of more than $2 million in a deranged lonely hearts scheme.

According to a statement from the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, one component of Hajia's offense is that she allegedly duped one of her victims with a fake marriage.

She is accused of sending the victim a tribal marriage certificate claiming they were married in Ghana and stealing $89,000 from her victim.

The US Attorney's Office website stated the following;

"MONTRAGE received funds from several victims of romance scams who were duped into sending money by members of the Enterprise,"

"Among the false pretenses used to induce victims to send money to MONTRAGE were (i) payments to transport gold to the United States from overseas; (ii) payments to resolve a fake FBI unemployment investigation; and (iii) payments to assist a fake United States army officer in receiving funds from Afghanistan."

Regarding one victim, MONTRAGE used her actual name and called the victim multiple times. MONTRAGE sent the victim a tribal marriage certificate claiming they were married in Ghana.

"The victim sent MONTRAGE approximately 82 wire transfers totaling approximately $89,000 to ostensibly assist with expenses related to his father's farm in Ghana.

"In total, MONTRAGE controlled bank accounts that received over $2 million in fraudulent funds from the Enterprise."

In the interim, Hajia 4 Reall is presumed innocent until proven guilty, but if convicted, she faces at least ten years in prison.
