I Dare The Presidency IF They Claim Galamsey Is Not Going On Any Of The President's Properties In Kyebi - Sammy Gyamfi

Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has alluded to a second domicile of President Akufo-Addo in his hometown, which is allegedly surrounded by galamsey.

According to Mr. Gyamfi, the ostensible residence to which the presidency bused journalists to investigate the veracity of a nearby illicit mining operation is not where they were supposed to be.

Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, former chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), reported to the Chief of Staff in March 2021 that an NPP constituency youth organizer was engaging in galamsey on a field adjacent to the President's residence at Kyebi.

Prof. Frimpong-Boateng said they dispatched a bulldozer and an excavator to reclaim and replant the garden after confirming that the allegation was accurate.

Two years after the report was made public, the presidency dispatched a group of journalists to his hometown, Kyebi, to determine whether or not such a deed had ever occurred there, characterizing the 37-page document as hearsay.

Kyebihene Osabarima During the journalists' visit, Marfo Kwabrane requested that Prof. Frimpong-Boateng come to Kyebi and show them where the President was doing galamsey in his home.

Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the NDC, wants to spare the old professor a great deal of difficulty and has dared the presidency to send journalists back to Kyebi to confirm the location of the incident.

Sammy Gyamfi, speaking with Alfred Ocansey on TV3's the KeyPoints on April 29, 2023, stated:

"I would like it on record that President Akufo-Addo owns multiple properties in Kyebi. The domicile he showed the journalists is his mother's home in Kyebi Newtown, but Akufo-Addo also owns property between Kyebi Esikam and Adukrom, the honorable Ofosu Ampofo's hometown. This property is also a fenced security zone, and Eric Antwi, a National Security agent, manages a cattle farm and garden on this property. I dare the presidency, if they claim galamsey is not going on any of the president's properties in Kyebi, to bus media representatives to his property between Kyebi Esikam and Adukrom and see what comes out.

"I am suggesting that he dispatch the media to this other property as well. We are not minors in our nation. We are aware of the situation because we have our senses to the ground. Some of them found out that we were planning to go there, and they have been sending threats that they will shoot and murder us if we enter. "They ought to wait," he asserted.
