Former Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection Otiko Afisa Djaba has denied any impropriety in awarding school feeding contracts to 550 women New Patriotic Party (NPP) organizers during her tenure.

According to her, the NPP's female organizers are also citizens with the right to labor and earn a living.

"I intentionally recruited 550 female organizers, and I will not apologize for it," she said. When Thelma Tackie asked her on the GTV Breakfast Show if she had a role in the politicization of the school feeding program, she boldly stated, "They are also Ghanaians, and they need jobs."

However, according to Madam Djaba, the current workforce of school caterers consists of approximately 30,000 individuals, including those who support other political parties.

On April 26, 2023, purveyors for school meals began a nationwide strike due to the government's refusal to pay owed arrears and increase the amount per student.

She urged all parties involved in the School feeding program to dedicate themselves to achieving the program's goals by working proficiently.
