The family of Assistant Inspector Philip Motey, an Immigration Officer who was shot and killed in Upper East Region's Bawku, suspects foul play.
On April 3, three immigration officers from Bawku were traveling to Missiga when their vehicle was fired upon by unknown gunmen, resulting in the murder of Philip Motey, age 42.
Cephas Motey, his sibling, delivered a heartfelt eulogy at his funeral in Accra and stated that the family suspects foul play.
"They both traveled to bring Philip back in a body bag, claiming that what occurred on that Monday was neither an accident nor a robbery."
I will not implore Philip to rest in peace; if he wishes to rest in peace, that is his decision; if he does not wish to rest in peace, I leave that decision up to him."
The deceased has been laid to rest in Tsibu Awudome, his birthplace in the Volta Region.
