Akufo-Addo, president of the Republic of Ghana, has been invited by the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to attend the 28th United Nations Climate Change conference COP28, which will be conducted in the UAE.
Mr. Amer Al Alawi, Chargé d'Affaires of the UAE Embassy in the Republic of Ghana, presented the invitation to President Akufo-Addo at the ajubilee House in Accra.
During the meeting, Mr. Amer Al Alawi conveyed to President Akufo-Addo and all Ghanaians the condolences of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, as well as his best wishes for good health and success. The president of the UAE also wished the people of Ghana continued progress and prosperity.
President Akufo-Addo, for his part, extended his best regards to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, his counterpart in the United Arab Emirates, wishing him good health, success, and prosperity while conveying his desire for stronger relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Ghana.
During the meeting, the Charge d'Affaires reviewed the progress made in bilateral relations in various disciplines; bilateral and multilateral cooperation in international forums; and the unique opportunities available.
The Charge d'Affaires provided President Akufo-Addo with an official update on the UAE authorities' preparations for hosting the COP28 in November.
Mr. Al Alawi presented President Akufo-Addo with the letter of invitation from the President of UAE to attend the premier global climate event.
COP28 will be conducted from November 30 to December 12, 2023 in Expo City, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
