Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba To Be Vetted On 26th May

Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Torkornoo, a candidate for chief justice, will be vetted by the Appointments Committee of Parliament on tomorrow, May 26.

In April 2023, she received the president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's nomination.

The President stated that she was nominated to fill any vacancies that might arise after the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice, Kwasi Anin-Yeboah, on May 24.

Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Torkornoo, a candidate for chief justice, will be vetted by the Appointments Committee of Parliament on tomorrow, May 26.

If confirmed, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, who comes from Winneba in the Central Region, will follow Justices Georgina Theodora Wood and Sophia Akuffo as the third female Chief Justice in Ghana's history.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, had earlier been requested by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to expedite the appointment of Justice Gertrude Torkornoo to the office of Chief Justice.
