Mahama Mourns With Family Of Late Kumawu MP , Atta Basoah


John Dramani Mahama, the leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), visited the family of Philip Atta Basoah, the late member of parliament for the Kumawu constituency, on Friday, May 19 to express his condolences.

Kwasi Amankwaa, the NDC parliamentary candidate for Kumawu, Fifi Kwetey, the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Andrew Nana Kwasi, and other executives accompanied him.

Philip Basoah, the late New Patriotic Party representative for Kumawu, passed away on March 27, 2023, and his funeral is presently taking place in advance of a special election on May 23.

Philip Basoah, born in 1969 and representing the Kumawu constituency in the Ashanti Region, passed away on March 27, 2023.

He was first elected to Parliament in 2017 after gaining the Kumawu constituency in the 2016 general election.

In the 2016 general elections, he won the seat with 21,794 ballots, or 78.2% of the total votes cast for the New Patriotic Party ticket.

He won the parliamentary seat in the 2020 general election with 14,960 votes, or 51.1% of the total ballots cast.
