Man Murders Girlfriend Over Increment Of "Chop Money"

A 38-year-old farmer shot and killed his 45-year-old girlfriend in Breman Nkonya, close to Breman Asikuma in the Central Region over maintenance money (chop money).

On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, a misunderstanding reportedly occurred between the suspect, also known as Otwea Amokua, and the victim, also known as Nkumah, after the victim, who has been complaining about the amount of her 'chop money' for some time, once again brought up the issue.

The two are said to always engage in a struggle whenever the victim requests an increase in payment from the suspect.

According to information gathered by Chris News' Yaw Boagyan, on Monday, May 15, 2023, the suspect purchased a new double-barreled gun along with some bullets. He then showed it to his friend and told him he would use it to murder his girlfriend and six other tenants who were bothering him.

Tuesday evening, the suspect broke into the home of the victim, shot her, and then fled.

The victim was hurried to Our Lady Of Grace Government Hospital in Breman Asikuma, but was transferred to Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for further treatment but couldn't survive.

The gun and ammunition were recovered and turned over to the Breman Asikuma Police, who have launched a search for the fleeing suspect.
