NDC Accuses NPP Of Being The Cause Of Dr. Duffour's Actions

Abraham Amaliba, Director of Legal Affairs for the NDC, has stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is behind Dr. Kwabena Duffuor's injunction application against the conduct of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential and parliamentary primaries.

Mr. Amaliba stated on TV3's 'Big Issue' on Friday, May 12 that prior to the injunction application, Nana Obiri Boahen, a former Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, had indicated that the NDC would be facing a judicial case.

He stated that a court action had indeed been filed. According to him, this cannot be a mere coincidence.

"We are aware that they are sponsoring these events. Indeed, Nana Obiri Boahen's prediction of a court case has come to pass. "Is Nana Obiri Boahen a clairvoyant?" Mr Amaliba said.

He added that all attempts to get Dr. Kwabena Duffuor's camp to settle down with party officials to resolve the issues raised against the conduct of the presidential primaries were unsuccessful.

According to him, invitations extended to them have not been accepted.

"All attempts to get them to sit at the table with us have failed," Amaliba said.

He added, "The party is reaching out to you, is it a clear case of frustrating the party?"

But Awal Mohammed, a member of the NPP's Communications staff, was responsible for the claim.

According to Awal, court action was imminent based on the conduct of the NDC's leaders.

On the same program, he stated, "No one needs to tell you that this matter will end up in court."

He went on to say that the Duffuor camp requested the album for the elections, but two weeks after the request, it was still not provided.

"National NDC executives are to blame," he stated.

Dr. Kwabena Duffuor filed a lawsuit against the party on Tuesday, requesting an injunction against the primaries.

In contrast, the General Secretary of the party, Fifi Kwetey, issued a statement that read, "While urging calm among our rank-and-file, we wish to assure you that as of April 20th, 2023, the full Delegates List was made available to all presidential candidates in accordance with our commitment stated in our guidelines that this Primary Document would be provided to all presidential candidates.

"Therefore, the party is confident that this temporary obstacle will be quickly resolved, allowing the primaries to be held on time."

"It is our expectation that we will all put the greater good of our great party ahead of all other considerations, knowing that the good people of Ghana are eagerly looking up to our party on December 7, 2024 to save this nation from its current state of national collapse."
