NDC Primaries : 17 MP's Who Lost Their Seats To New Aspirants

The NDC primaries held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, resulted in significant losses for several incumbent Members of Parliament.

By the time results were announced Saturday evening, approximately 17 incumbents had been supplanted by newcomers.

In the 275 constituencies where parliamentary primaries were held, 356,624 party delegates cast ballots.

Some incumbent Members of Parliament (MP) were ousted in the opposition National Democratic Congress' (NDC) parliamentary primaries, to the astonishment of political analysts.

The primary elections held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, resulted in approximately 17 incumbent members of parliament relinquishing their seats to new candidates.

For many, the defeat of ABA Fuseini in the Sagnarigu contest and the election of Dr. Kwabena Donkor for Pru East were among the most shocking outcomes.

In the primaries held on Saturday, May 13, 17 incumbent members of Congress surrendered their seats to newcomers.

This is a list of the 17 members of Congress who lost their seats in the last election.

The names of the members of Congress who lost their seats in the primaries are listed below in alphabetical order.

ABA Fuseini – Sagnerigu Abeiku Crentsil – Ekumfi
Albert Akuka Alalzuuga – Garu
The Alex Adomako - Sekyere Afram Plains
Angela Oforiwa Alorwu-Tay – Afadjato Bia West – South Augustine Tawia
Christian Otuteye, Sege Della Sowah, and Kpando.
Edward Bawa, Bongo Kobena, and South Tongu
Kwabena Donkor – Pru East Kwadwo Nyanpon Aboagye – Biakoye
Peter Yaw Kwakye Ackah – Amenfi Central
Samson Tangombu Chiragia – Navrongo Central
Sophia Ackuaku is the current member of parliament for Domeabra-Obom, but she recently shifted to the Ayawaso Central constituency.
In 16 constituencies, the primaries for Thomas Dalu – Chiana-Paga and Wisdom Gidisu – Krachie East were not contested.
In 16 parliamentary constituencies, the party did not conduct elections.

Parliamentary primaries were conducted in 275 constituencies, with a total of 356,624 delegates voting.

The 16 districts consist of:

Sam George retains eligibility to contest the 2024 Ningo Prampram MP election.

After a fierce combat with Michael Kwetey, Sam George received 1036 votes out of a total of 1700 votes.

Sam George, who had previously stated that he believed his delegates would re-elect him, has elated his supporters with his election victory.
