NDC Primaries : 3 Incumbent MP's Who Lost Their Seats In Volta Region


Three incumbent members of parliament (MPs) in the Volta Region lost their seats in the recent National Democratic Congress (NDC) primary election.

Kobena Mensah Woyome, the incumbent member of parliament for South Tongu, lost Saturday's primary election to grassroots candidate Maxwell Kwame Lukudor.

Woyome has been a member of Parliament since 2009. He is a member of the youth and sports committee of the parliament. Lukudor received 597 more ballots than Woyome, who received 562.

In the Kpando Constituency, incumbent MP Dela Sowah received 281 ballots compared to his opponent Sebastian Deh's 331 votes.

Angela Oforiwa Alorwu-Tay, the incumbent member of parliament for the Afadzato South constituency, lost by 225 votes to her opponent, Frank Afriyie, who received 631 ballots.

Twelve incumbent representatives were re-elected. Two members of parliament, James Klutse Avedzi and Benjamin Komla Kpodo of the Ketu North and Ho Central constituencies, did not run.
