NPP Gov't Has Nothing Good For You - Mahama To Residents Of Kumawu

John Dramani Mahama, the leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is urging voters in the Sekyere Kumawu constituency in the Ashanti region to elect Kwasi Amankwaa, also known as Tom Cee, to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives in the upcoming by-election on May 23, 2023.

Campaigning in Bodomase, close to Kumawu, after visiting the family of the late Member of Parliament for the Constituency, Philip Basoah, in advance of his funeral on Saturday, May 20, 2023, the former President described his passing as regretful but a sacrifice for the Constituency.

He explained that the passing of the Kumawu representative has prompted the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to divert development projects to the district.

"Since 1992, Kumawu Constituency, you have voted for the NPP in every election. As a result, the NPP does not prioritize your developmental requirements. When we were in power, the NDC was responsible for every significant development initiative in this district.

"The NDC constructed the Kumawu to Drobonso road, the Kumawu to Agogo road, the Kumawu district water project, and the Kumawu district project," he said, highlighting the NDC's achievements in the constituency. Unfortunately, since losing the 2016 election, the NPP has abandoned the initiative for more than six years. Due to upcoming elections, they are not attempting to do anything there. If they complete the project, that's great for you, but if they don't, the next NDC government will complete it for you,'' he promised.

To win the election, he reiterated his earlier appeal for massive support for the party's parliamentary candidate.

"Kumawu constituency, wake yourself up in this by-election because you've been taken for granted for too long. May Basoah's spirit rest in peace. I view his passing as a sacrifice for the Kumawu Constituency. If not for his death, we would never see this massive earth-moving machine on the roadways of Kumawu. What else indicates that the contractor will remain on site after the by-election without removing their working equipment? Please let us tremble this time to demonstrate that we cannot be taken for granted,'' he pleaded.
