Okudzeto Ablakwa Replies Apostle Onyinah Over National Cathedral Scandal

Honorable The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has responded to Apostle Opoku Onyinah regarding the National Cathedral scandal.

Following a conflict of interest petition presented to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) in January, the Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa stated that allegations of malfeasance surrounding the controversial "National" Cathedral project have sparked a parliamentary investigation. Kwabena Adu Gyamfi/Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, a board member associated with Apostle Opoku Onyinah, was implicated in the petition.

In addition, he disclosed, "In response to the allegations, a successful motion was submitted in Parliament demanding a comprehensive public inquiry into the Cathedral affair. The motion, which was accepted in March by the Right Honorable Speaker, Alban S.K. Bagbin, intends to address the raised concerns and ensure the project's transparency."

The Ghana Revenue Authority, the Public Procurement Authority, and the Office of the Registrar of Companies have all formally responded to the petitioner's Right to Information requests. These responses have supported and validated the findings of the Honorable Ablakwa.

The honorable Ablakwa clarifies that their focus was on uncovering the truth rather than pursuing personal popularity, refuting allegations that they engaged in a popularity contest. They underscore the sacrifices made by members of parliament in carrying out their constitutional oversight responsibilities and solicit their support.

As the parliamentary investigation progresses, Ghanaians anxiously anticipate the unveiling of the truth and the enforcement of accountability in relation to the "National" Cathedral project.

He concluded with, "For God and Country, Ghana First"
