Over 300 Illegal Miners Trapped In AngloGold's Mine Shaft

Hundreds of unauthorized miners are isolated in a mine shaft owned by the multinational mining corporation AngloGold.

The incident reportedly occurred at the AngloGold Obuasi Mines in Anwiam, Obuasi East District, Ashanti Region.

Reports indicate that the miners entered the underground shaft in search of gold deposits, but became stranded when all exit routes were blocked.

Ali Tijani, one of the unauthorized miners, reported that a dearth of food and water has rendered some of his colleagues incapacitated.

The reportedly 300-member group is appealing through their families for AngloGold officials to intervene and extract them from the shaft.

The company has not commented on the matter nor responded to inquiries about the development.
