Popular Ghanaian Boxer Joseph Agbeko Dissatisfied With Lack Of Respect And Recognition In The Boxing Industry

Joseph Agbeko, a former two-time world boxing champion, is dissatisfied with the lack of recognition and respect he receives from the Ghanaian boxing community.

Agbeko believes that his background may be the reason for his perceived lack of appreciation, despite his impressive boxing record, which includes twice holding the IBF bantamweight title and winning the WBC International bantamweight championship.

Speaking with JoySports, Agbeko stated, "The boxing community does not value, adore, or regard me as they do the other boxers.

"I don't know if it's because I am from the Volta region." He noted that his image was absent from the Bukom Boxing Arena's collection of Ghana's champions.

Even with the Bukom Boxing Arena, there is a site where pictures of all of Ghana's champions are displayed; however, [mine is not there].

Agbeko has fought in 43 bouts, winning 38, including 28 by knockout, while suffering five defeats.

"Joseph Agebko was not a boxer who won a single world championship. When you consider Ghana's champions, including DK Poison, Azumah Nelson, and everyone else, you will mention my name three or four times out of ten because I am a two-time world champion.

"Azumah is a three-time world champion, and Nana Konadu has won about two world titles – I support these great fighters," said Agbeko.

"I have accomplished a great deal in boxing, so it is inconceivable that anyone would put up pictures of fighters who have achieved for Ghana without thinking of Joseph Agbeko."
