Popular Ghanaian Football Club Suspends Player Following Defilement Case

Philip Flamini, who has been charged with defilement and sexual assault, has been suspended by Karela United pending an investigation and a final court decision.

The Anyinase-based club issued a statement verifying the 24-year-old player's suspension.

In 2021, Flamini moved to Karela United from Sekondi Hasacaas and appeared in six games during the opening round of the season.

After being remanded into detention by the Ellembelle District Court in the Western Region for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old schoolgirl, he will be unavailable for the foreseeable future.

In a few months, Flamini's contract with the club is due to expire.
