Popular Nigerian Singer Chidinma Discloses Why She Stopped Secular Music

Chidinma Ekile, a popular Nigerian musician, has revealed why she left secular music.

Gist Reel mentored that the singer, who rose to prominence after winning Project prominence in 2010, said she felt empty and disconnected from her source.

Earlier in 2021, Chidinma announced that she had become a minister of God and would no longer perform secular music.

In a video uploaded to YouTube on Wednesday, the 'Kedike' singer discussed her decision to leave secular music, stating that she had been searching for fulfillment but was unable to find it until she reconnected with her source (God).

In her words;

"Until I reconnected with my source, I was unable to find fulfillment."

The singer also discussed how her encounter with God altered her life path, adding that she found serenity and fulfillment in her new position as a minister of the gospel.

Fans and colleagues in the music industry reacted differently to Chidinma's decision to stop performing secular music.

Others criticized her decision, stating that she was squandering her talent, while some supported her.

The singer has been using her music to promote the gospel and inspire people to connect with God.

Her most recent single, 'Jehovah Overdo,' has garnered praise from both fans and music critics.
