Popular Radio Manager Arrested For Alledgely Stealing Company's Money

Godfred Mpusu, also known as Nyankonto, the General Manager of a private radio station in Takoradi, was detained by the police on Friday afternoon for allegedly stealing GH23,500 belonging to the station.

According to Inspector Iddi Abass of the Takoradi Police Intelligence Unit, Mr. Percy Boamah, the chief executive officer of the radio station, reported to the police that from December 2022 to February 2023, Mpusu collected various quantities of money totaling the stated amount.

He stated that Mr. Boamah gave Mpusu the funds to pay employee salaries, rent, and restore the station's tower mast.

Inspector Abass stated that Mpusu allegedly began giving the employees one excuse after another as to why he could not pay them their salaries, including claiming that he had a problem with his bank account and that his mother was ill.

According to him, Mpusu created an emergency situation in which the station's mast was about to collapse if money was not sent for repairs, but he did not restore the mast after receiving the money.

Inspector Abass reported that after two months of not being paid, the employees informed Mr. Boamah, who was astonished that the employees had not been paid.

According to him, attempts to convince Mpusu to pay the salaries were futile because he continued to provide excuses.

It was also reported that he began playing hide-and-seek with the CEO, prompting him to call the police.

Inspector Abass stated that the police had to ambush him in order to apprehend him in order to assist with their investigations.
