President Akufo-Addo Praises Late IGP

Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Peter Tenganabang Nanfuri was lauded by President Akufo-Addo for his immense contribution to securing and sustaining peace in the nation.

Formerly the Director of the National Investigation Bureau and Inspector-General of the Ghana Police Service, the ex-security officer is no longer employed by the government.

For this reason, the President believes that Ghana owes him a great debt for his hard work and significant contribution to the current peace in Ghana.
During his burial, President Akufo-Addo stated in a speech read on his behalf by Interior Minister Ambrose Dery that the nation will honor him by writing his name in gold.

Jirapa paused to bid farewell to its distinguished son. A guard of honor escorted the former IGP's corpse.
The ceremony was held at Naa Yelpoe Park, where he was enskinned as the paramount chief of Jirapa sixteen years ago, with his casket draped in the colors of the Ghana Police Service.

The body of the fourth Chief of Jirapa lay in repose in the park for three days, with locals traveling by to pay their respects. It was a continuation of the funeral mass conducted at the State House in Accra on Wednesday.

The choreographed spectacle of a state funeral seemed fitting for a life that spanned the highest levels of public service in Ghana, a life that ended only three months ago.
Since the funerals of Cardinal Richard Kuuia Bawobr at the beginning of the year and Mmaa, there has arguably never been such an important event in the region where invitations have been accepted with such promptness.

Sarah Chinewille is the mother of a Supreme Court judge, Justice Emmanuel Yonny Kulendi in 2020 DCOP Augustine Gyenning (Retired) served as his Aide de Camp and Executive Secretary when he was at the BNI and IGP, respectively.
"After years, my rapport with him resembled that of a father and son. I was even the first person they called when he passed away, so I cannot miss his funeral, he argued.
Close relatives, particularly his children, wailed uncontrollably and unwittingly formed a blockade to prevent the casket from being sealed.

Numerous witnesses attested to the honorable and deferential manner in which the late former IGP performed his duties as a public servant and chief.
Many of those who attended the event are appreciative to God for bringing him into their lives. He will undoubtedly be missed.

Sir Peter Tenganabang Nanfuri leaves behind a wife, fifteen children, and seventeen grandchildren.
