Prez Akufo-Addo Commissions Elmina Fishing Harbour

In a Facebook post, President Akufo-Addo stated that the Elmina Fishing Port Project will provide a significant boost to the fishing industry and serve as a symbol of optimism, progress, and prosperity for the Elmina community.

"I thank the people of Elmina for having faith in the Akufo-Addo administration to implement this project, whose ground was broken on August 20, 2020, and for not listening to the doubters. I recall that four (4) months after breaking ground, former President John Dramani Mahama, the perennial NDC presidential candidate, visited Elmina in December and referred to the fishing harbor as "a sakawa fishing harbour."

"He stated unequivocally that the Elmina Harbour would never be constructed. "It is fortunate that he is not God, and I am equally pleased that he and all the doubters are alive today to witness President Akufo-Addo inaugurating the Elmina Fishing Port," the president said.

The Elmina Fishing Port Project represents a major milestone and complements the two (2) extant fishing ports of Tema and Sekondi-Takoradi.

President Akufo-Addo stated, "We are also on track to complete the Jamestown Fishing Port, bringing the total number of fishing ports in the country to four (4)."

He reaffirmed the government's determination to remain steadfast and to continue pursuing programs and initiatives that support the expansion of the aquaculture industry.
