SAD NEWS : Veteran Musician Akwaboah Reportedly Dead

A huge tree has died. Following the passing of renowned highlife performer Kwadwo Akwaboah Snr., the music industry is in sorrow.

After a protracted struggle, he allegedly passed away in the early hours of May 16 on Tuesday.

The announcement of Akwaboah Snr's passing by his son on Instagram has brought tears to the eyes of Ghanaians.

He posted a picture of his father and with the succinct yet powerful remark, "RIP daddy."


Akwaboah Snr was physically hampered before he passed away due to what he claimed was a demonic attack while he was in Holland.

After performing in a band, he recalled, "I woke up one day and noticed that my right eye had a blood spot on it." "I went to the doctor, who prescribed an eye drop for me to take. However, after some period of use, it stopped working.

In light of this, he moved to Ghana to seek the help of local herbalists and spiritual leaders, but the situation only got worse till his untimely death.

He collaborated closely with his son Akwaboah on his most recent musical endeavor two years ago, when they made a remix of his 1990s hit song.

He was among the best keyboardists this nation has ever produced.

He succeeded Master Kwabena Akwaboah, his late father and a highlife guru, as did Akwaboah, his son.
