Kojo Gyeke Dako, the former Deputy Director of IT for the National Democratic Congress, has challenged the New Patriotic Party to reveal their tallied results from the recently concluded by-election in Assin North.

According to him, this challenge is consistent with the governing NPP's practice of displaying their collated election results, which creates superfluous tensions.

Mr. Dako wonders why the party failed to do so in the Assin North election if the NPP believes it to be the best course of action.

In an interview with the media, the former deputy director explained that the NDC temporarily conceals election results as a strategic move to enable the party to approach post-election dynamics with a clear understanding of their position.

Since the 2020 parliamentary elections, the Assin North district has been a source of controversy.

James Gyakye Quayson of the NDC was pronounced the winner of the initial election, but a lawsuit challenging his eligibility based on claims of dual citizenship led to a byelection. On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, Mr. Quayson maintained his seat with an emphatic victory at the polls.

Mr. Dako also emphasized the significance of transparency and openness in the electoral process, imploring all parties to prioritize the will of the people and uphold the democratic integrity of Ghana.
