TRAGEDY : Man Commits Suicide In Adankwame

At Adankwame in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti, a 45-year-old father of nine purportedly committed suicide due to economic difficulties, leaving his wife in a state of shock.

Prior to his death, Mr Kwasi Agyei, according to locals, had been lamenting his economic hardship and incapacity to care for his nine children.

The deceased reportedly died after taking a substance believed to be poison, leaving his nine children in the custody of his unemployed wife.

In an interview with OTEC News on May 8, 2023, the deceased's wife, Akosua Asantewaa, stated that her spouse passed away at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

"I just gave birth to our ninth child and, as a result, have been living with my mother in our family home. My late husband asked me to bring him food, so I took my time preparing it and, upon entering the room, I saw him lying on the floor."

Later, I observed a liquid on a small bottle that I believed to be poison, so I raised the alarm and he was taken to the hospital.

The day after his death, we were informed that the liquid he had consumed was poison.

Now that I am left with nine children to provide for and no employment, I am unsure of what I will do to support them.

Akosua Asantewaa stated that she will need Ghc2,000 to launch her menial trading business in order to get back on her feet.
