The National Cathedral Is Important As The Hospital - Yaw Preko To TUC

Yaw Preko, Deputy Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party, has vehemently opposed the Trade Union Congress' (TUC) proposal to convert the National Cathedral into a hospital.

Addressing the 2023 May Day parade in Bolgatanga, Upper East Region, under the theme "Protecting incomes and pensions in an era of economic crisis: Our responsibility," Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah, Secretary-General of the TUC, stated that converting the cathedral project into a hospital would better serve Ghanaians.

The President has always stated that he wishes to build a replica of Notre Dame in Ghana to attract more tourists, but we disagree.

In actuality, comrades, it is preferable to convert the project into a national hospital," Dr. Yaw Baah stated, adding, "Mr. President, you can also reduce the size of your government." Too many Ministers and Deputy Ministers serve in Ghana.

However, Yaw Preko does not find the TUC proposal to be sufficient, as he explained that, while the construction of hospitals is essential, it is equally vital that the government undertakes other projects that will benefit the citizens.

According to him, the Cathedral is as essential as the hospital that the TUC is requesting, and he therefore disagrees with them.
