Trotro And Taxis Will Be Digitised Soon - Vice President Bawumia

As part of the government's digitization initiative, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumiah, Vice President of Ghana, has stated that the government is in the process of digitizing taxi and trotro vehicle operations in Ghana.

According to him, taxi drivers informed him last year that their businesses were disintegrating due to Online Drivers' operations in the country.

He stated that the government has implemented measures to digitize taxi and trotro driving so that drivers can function similarly to online drivers in order to alleviate this issue for drivers.

In a few months, he said, we will be able to station our vehicles in Accra and implement a tap-and-go system.

This was announced when he was invited as a Special Guest of Honor to the annual General Council Meeting of the CHURCH OF PENTECOST on May 3, 2023.

This impressive accomplishment of the Church of Pentecost demonstrates that if we set our minds to it, Ghana can also become a developed nation, he stated.

"Taxi drivers visited me in my office, and one of the main issues they brought to my attention and that of my team was that our businesses were collapsing.

I asked them what the issue was, and they said that Uber and others were causing people to take taxis less frequently than before. They inquired how I could help them remain in business.

Consequently, I delegated the task to my team, and I am pleased to report that the work has been completed. We will shortly digitize taxi operations, he added.
