Two Men Arrested For Posing Themselves As ECG Taskforce Officers

Two individuals were apprehended for impersonating as ECG revenue mobilization taskforce members.

Two individuals were apprehended for posing as members of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) revenue mobilization taskforce.

Additionally, the pair has been accused of issuing disconnection notices and collecting money on behalf of the company.

The police arrested Samuel Afful, 49, and Perry K. Asamoah, 38, at Kojo Krom.

This was the result of an investigation conducted by ECG in response to an official complaint filed by an ECG consumer.

"Yesterday, two gentlemen went to a business and served notice that the company owes ECG $11,000; they were there to collect the debt." So, the customer provided information that these individuals on their property were shady. We were able to make the arrest, and they have gone through the necessary steps to corroborate that they are not employees."

According to the power distribution company, the two are presently in police custody and will face prosecution within the next few days.

She added, "They are currently in the custody of the police and will undergo the verification process."
