Two men executed for raping and murdering a 12-year-old girl

The two men who were found guilty of the rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl in northeastern Puntland, Somalia, were put to death, which was applauded by the victim's family.

The two men, Abdishakur Mohamed Dige, 46, and Abdifatah Abdirahman Warsame, 24, were executed by firing squad on Tuesday in the village of Bosaso. The execution of a third guy, 32-year-old Abdisalam Abdirahman Warsame, Abdifatah's brother, was postponed for ten days.
Aisha Ilyas Aden's father expressed his relief that the offenders had been punished.
Ilyas Aden says, "I feel great.

According to Aden, the penalty will prevent rapes against Somali women.

"This case will teach us a valuable lesson," he declared. "Girls from Somalia will be safer."

In February 2019, the girl was brutally murdered in the town of Galkayo after being kidnapped close to her home, gang raped, and then killed.

Aden's rape and murder generated a large-scale public outcry and demands justice. Many people decided to use Aisha's photo as their social media profile pictures as the hashtag #JusticeforAisha became popular.

Ten males were detained by Puntland authorities in connection with this investigation. Their trial became the first rape trial in Somalia to be broadcast on television and the first in which DNA evidence was used to get a conviction. a, an a. a The other seven defendants were freed.
What happened?
Between 7 and 8 a.m. on February 24, 2019, Aden vanished after her mother dropped her off at a market to do some shopping. She was abducted and found at a neighbour's home. Abdishakur Mohamed Dige, the neighbour, resided there with his mother.
