WATCH : Gun Battle Between Land Guards And Okyeman Taskforce , 9 Arrested

Tuesday, May 30, 2023, Okyeman Lands Taskforce and landguards exchanged gunfire in Teacher Mante, a community along the Accra to Kumasi Highway in the Ayensuano District of Eastern region.

The suspect landguards were allegedly engaged by Kofi Acquah, who claimed the land belonged to his family and not Okyenhene, thereby opposing the sale of the land to the investor company Rockstar.

Armed with firearms and other lethal implements, the land guardians terrorized the investor and locals by invading the parcel of land.

The land guardians initially opened fire on the Okyeman Land taskforce, who retaliated with fire of their own, but after minutes of combat they were subdued and arrested.

The investor purchased the parcel of land from Okyenhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, who is the allodial right owner of Akyem Abuakwa lands, but Kofi Acquah hired the landguards to attack the investor.

According to him, the notorious land guards were previously apprehended and turned over to the Nsawam Police; however, the Police released them, which emboldened them to return to the land.

"The land was purchased by Rockstars Company from Okyenhene, which has been documented for several years, but recently one Kofi Acquah has claimed ownership of the land, so he is responsible for sponsoring land guardians on the property. We had information this morning, so I organized my task force and we went there, only to discover that they were armed when they began firing guns and exclaiming, "Today, it will happen!"

"We also prepared so that when we confronted them, nine of them were apprehended and the rest fled," The Akwansrahene told the story.

The perpetrators were transferred to the Kibi Police Command.
