We Will Fight With Our Blood To Win Assin North By-Elections - NDC's Prof Asiedu

Prof. Richard Kofi Asiedu, the Central Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), pledged to retain the seat for the party in response to the Supreme Court's directive that the Parliament of Ghana expunge from its records the name of Mr. James Gyakye Quayson as Member of Parliament (MP) for the Assin North Constituency.

He has pledged, along with other party executives, to go toe-to-toe with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Assin North constituency to ensure a resounding victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming by-election, if the seat is declared vacant by the Speaker of Parliament and a date is set.

Prof. Kofi Asiedu stated, "We will fight with our blood to retain the Assin North constituency seat for the NDC in the upcoming by-election."

"We want it on record that the NPP will not be permitted to share money, and that we will not be intimidated by the NPP's forces, whether visible or invisible, but will instead fight for our rights, as it is against the electoral laws of this country to influence someone with money." Prof Kofi Asiedu issued a warning

At a press conference organized by the Central Regional and Assin North Executives of the NDC ahead of the Assin North by-election, he stated, "If NPP are saying they are extending what happened in the Kumawu constituency by sharing money openly with the voters to the Central Region, specifically the Assin North constituency, then we are sorry for them because the NDC will not permit money sharing during voting."

"The NPP is bluffing if they believe they will be able to impose their will as they did at Kumawu when they arrive. Prof. Kofi Asiedu stated, "They can keep in mind that they can influence an ignorant person to vote for them without a message, but in the Central Region, where education began, we will not allow ourselves to be influenced by money."

"The people of Central Region can analyze issues very well before voting, so if the NPP influences them with money, then we will influence them with consciousness and words of wisdom that will let them know how to vote for the continuation of development, since the NPP no longer cares about development," he emphasized.
