26-Year-Old Man Shot By Armed Robbers, See What Happened

In the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region, a 26-year-old man named Justice Amoquandoh was shot by armed robbers who were dressed in military uniform and riding a motorbike.

The incident occurred in Kasoa Akweley New Town on Friday, April 14, 2023, while the victim was escorting his sister to the Kasoa Market around 5:00 pm. The robbers were in the process of robbing a sprinter Benz Bus on the road when the victim arrived at the scene with his sister. In an attempt to escape, the victim and his sister decided to run away, but the robbers opened fire, resulting in the victim being hit in the waist and leaving him unable to walk.

Foster Mensah, the Assembly Member for Kasoa Akweley Electoral Area, expressed his concern about the escalating situation in the area, where robbers operate brazenly in broad daylight, without fear of the police.

Mensah noted that the robbers often strike after the police have conducted patrols in the area, indicating that they may be hiding somewhere in the community.

The victim is currently receiving treatment at the Police Hospital, and Mensah has called on the police administration to strengthen security in Kasoa and its environs to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
