40-Year-Old Father Arrested For Allegedly Raping His 9-Year-Old Daughter

A 40-year-old man was arrested in Akama village, Igbo-ukwu in the Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State for allegedly defiling his 9-year-old daughter.

Kenneth Nwangwu, the suspect, was caught by the police after someone in the neighborhood gave them a tip.

The suspect, who is being held by police at the State Criminal and Investigation Department (CID) in Awka, has denied the accusations and said that his enemies were behind them.

"My enemies are behind it because they are jealous of me. He said, "I only feed my daughter and nothing else."

In the meantime, a medical exam of the victim showed that there was defilement.

During the investigation into his life, it was found that the suspect has no real job and has been raising the child by himself since his ex-wife left them many years ago.

After hearing the news, the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Hon. Ify Obinabo, said she was ready to see the case through and help the child get justice.

She said that there were too many cases of defilement in the state and told everyone, "Always say something when you see something."

Obinabo promised that justice would be given quickly to cases that had already been sent to the State High Court because the Children, Sexual, and Gender-Based Violence High Court would soon start meeting.
