40-year-old Olympian says revealing her virginity ruined her dating life

Lolo Jones, an Olympian, has been honest about how her dating life has been ruined since she tweeted about being a virgin.

The American star, who is 40 years old and has been a hurdler and bobsledder, told her Twitter followers in 2012 why she was still a virgin.

Jones said that she was single because men would "deuce out when I won't put out," and she didn't want to do that because she wanted to "honor God and her future husband" by not doing it.

During an interview with Bryant Gumbel on HBO's Real Sports in 2013, the Olympian said that staying a virgin was the "hardest thing" she had ever done.

"I just want to give it to my husband as a gift. But please know that this has been a hard journey," Jones said.

"I'm going to tell all the virgins out there that it was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life.

"It was harder to stay a virgin before getting married than to train for the Olympics or to finish college."

Jones talked about her confession of abstinence on comedian Kevin Hart's Cold as Balls podcast in 2020. She said that it had hurt her dating life.

"That was wrong. After that, I didn't even have a chance with any of my dates. "Like before, I had a chance, at least," she said.

"Before, I would kind of tiptoe around and say, 'Okay, when's a good time to tell him? Do I wait until he gets to know me a little? Or should I just say it?'"

Hart asked Jones if not having sex had helped her focus on her career. Jones said that it had made her train with a "higher level of intensity" because she didn't have sex.

"I'm more intense because I don't have any way to let the pressure off. "Everyone knows that I'm stressed," she said.
