Akan is the weakest language when it comes to music – Mark Okraku Mantey argues

Mark Okraku Mantey claims that Akan is the least effective language when it comes to music.

Mark Okraku Mantey, a veteran Ghanaian music producer and the current Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, has vehemently maintained that Akan is the least effective language for recording music.

According to Mark Okaraku Mantey, the Akan language lacks the rhythmic and tonal aspects that make music more appealing.

Mr Mantey said that despite the absence of these components, the Akans have perfected the technique of promoting their language to make it appear that they are the only tribe capable of producing the best music.

The weakest language is Akan. That is how I see it. Someone may disagree. When it comes to music, the Akan language is the weakest.

Unfortunately, the Akan people have worked so hard that it looks like they are the ones who can produce the best music. This is not true.

Mark Okraku Mantey then concluded his controversial remarks by claiming that the Northern, Volta and Ga regions could potentially overrun Akan music.
